Mission Statement
The mission of CR Journalism is to practice and promote Constructive Restorative Journalism as a new media approach for truth-telling, public understanding, peacebuilding, accountability, and community transformation.
This platform exists to report stories that matter to African communities, diaspora populations, underserved communities, and people whose realities are often reduced to crisis, conflict, stereotypes, or neglect.
CR Journalism seeks to examine social problems honestly while also asking deeper questions: What caused this issue? Who is affected? What solutions are emerging? What can be repaired? How can journalism help communities understand themselves and move forward with dignity?
Accuracy
I prioritize verified facts, credible sources, careful attribution, and responsible correction of errors.
Context
I avoid shallow reporting by explaining background, causes, consequences, history, and systems behind events.
Humanity
I treat people and communities with dignity — especially those affected by conflict, poverty, injustice, migration, discrimination, or trauma.
Independence
I maintain editorial judgment and avoid hidden influence from political, commercial, personal, or institutional interests.
Accountability
I accept responsibility for my work, correct mistakes when necessary, and remain open to fair criticism.
Repair
I report not only what is broken, but also what individuals, communities, and institutions are doing to repair harm and build better futures.
Peacebuilding
I use journalism to support understanding, dialogue, civic responsibility, and social harmony without ignoring injustice or avoiding difficult truths.
