My name is Mutiu Olawuyi. I am a journalist, communication strategist, educator, entrepreneur, and peace advocate whose work connects media, education, community development, peacebuilding, African affairs, diaspora life, politics, diplomacy, and literature.
I work across West Africa, especially Nigeria, Senegal, and The Gambia, and the United States, particularly New York. My journalism is shaped by my experience with African and diaspora communities, underserved populations, civic institutions, educational initiatives, interfaith relations, and community-centered development.
My primary journalism focus is Constructive Restorative Journalism. This approach reports problems truthfully while also examining context, causes, consequences, possible solutions, community resilience, and pathways to repair. I believe journalism should inform the public, hold power accountable, reduce harmful stereotypes, and contribute to a more just, peaceful, and dignified society.
Through this website, I will publish articles, interviews, multimedia stories, reflections, and reports developed as part of my graduate study in New Media Journalism and my broader professional growth as a journalist.
